September 18, 2018
Dear LES Families,
On September 17, 2018, school staff identified what was suspected to be mold growth within Portable 57. As a result, the Indoor Environmental Office (IEQ) was immediately notified and sent someone to assess the situation.
Upon inspections, a roof leak and window leak is causing rainwater to enter the portable. Mold growth was identified behind the cove base in the area below the cove base. The carpet in the area was also impacted by fungal growth.
Building Services was immediately contacted and is assessing the portable and will determine if repairing the portable is feasible. The portable will not be used by students or staff until the assessment is completed. If Building Services elects to repair the portable, the Office of Indoor Environment will remove and clean impacted materials after the repairs have been made and prior to our students and staff re-occupying the space.
I will continue to communicate with you and provide any updates. We will continue to be vigilant in having a clean and safe environment for our students and staff.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Debra Anoff
Principal, LES
