To all Alumni of Lisbon Elementary,

I wanted to make you aware of several exciting events being planned in preparation of the 40th Anniversary of Lisbon Elementary. A dedicated group of staff and PTA members are busy planning the 40th anniversary celebration. The committee is planning a series of events to commemorate the history of education in Lisbon that dates back to the town’s first school, a one-room building, to the 1890’s. The committee has created lots of ways for the community, both within and around the school to celebrate. Our plans include providing new decorative flags for the school’s parking lot, a new welcome banner, hosting a spirit week for students, holding a student art show/sale and selling special spirit wear. The celebration culminates with an amazing two-day celebration including special events for alumni, a fall festival, and a parade with vendors to be held the first weekend of October!

The majority of the funds needed to turn this vision into a reality can be raised through the creation of a brick garden adjacent to the main entrance to the school. We are selling personalized, engraved “Pride Bricks” that will create a unique garden that serves to honor past and present students, staff and school community members. The bricks could be dedicated to a student’s graduation year, reflect the years a family attended the school, or honor a specific memory/accomplishment.

The bricks go on sale this May and will be installed prior to Homecoming Weekend in October. We need to sell at least two hundred fifty bricks this spring to support our goals. This is sure to become another tradition as unique to Lisbon as the last day of school cartwheels! We have put a copy of the order form on the home page of our website. Please fill out a form for your chance to support the school and honor a loved one with a Pride Brick. This spring marks our initial “Pride Brick” drive at an amazing introductory price. Don’t let the opportunity to add your name to Lisbon’s history slip away.
